Global Handwashing Day at Petevo School: Raising Awareness to Protect Children’s Health
On the occasion of Global Handwashing Day, Green Land Centrafrique (GLCA) conducted an awareness session at Petevo School in Bangui. The aim was clear: to teach students that regular handwashing is a simple yet vital act to prevent common illnesses.
Children took part in practical demonstrations, learning firsthand how to wash their hands properly. These playful exercises revealed that this everyday habit, often taken for granted, is in fact a powerful weapon against infections.
To make the experience more engaging, a quiz competition was organized. Excited students answered questions and were encouraged to share their new knowledge with their families and classmates, extending the impact of the awareness session beyond the school walls.
Winners received school kits as rewards, a symbolic gesture reflecting GLCA’s commitment to placing education at the heart of its actions. Linking hygiene to academic success means investing in the future of both children and their communities.
By instilling the importance of hygiene from an early age, GLCA contributes to building a generation that is conscious, responsible, and committed to public health. This celebration was much more than an activity—it reflected the organization’s determination to unite education, prevention, and community well-being.
